Medal Basics

Learn how the medal system works in OPBR, how many medals a character can equip, how tag bonuses are activated, and how colored medals are obtained.

What are medals?

Medals are one of the main systems used to improve a character in OPBR. They provide traits and can activate additional tag bonuses when multiple medals share the same tags.

How many medals can a character equip?

A character can equip 2 medals while not fully developed, and 3 medals once the character reaches 6★. The third medal slot is especially important because it allows much stronger shared-tag synergy.

How do medal tags work?

A single copy of a tag usually does not activate a tag bonus by itself. When a tag appears on 2 medals, the pair effect activates. When the same tag appears on 3 medals, the trio effect activates, which is usually stronger.

Why shared tags matter

The strength of a medal set often comes more from its shared tags than from individual traits alone. That is why strong medal sets usually aim to repeat important tags across all 3 medals.

How medals are created

To create a medal, you need 3 medal fragments. This applies to normal medals and also to colored medals. Once you collect the 3 required fragments, you can create the full medal.

How to get colored medals

Colored medals are special versions of normal medals. To get one, you need to earn colored medal fragments by ranking highly with a character.

Step 1

Finish inside the Top 500 with a character.

Step 2

Each Top 500 finish gives you 1 colored medal fragment.

Step 3

You need 3 fragments, so you must finish Top 500 3 times with that character to create the full colored medal.

Because of this, colored medals are much rarer and more prestigious than standard medals.
